Recognizing faces

Baby Ali used to stare blankly at our faces but I notice that he recognizes my wife and I now. I say this because every morning before leaving home, he would look at my wife and I as we went about getting prepared for the day. And as we are about to go out the door(while granma holds him), he’ll have this look. You know, the kind that seem to say, “ Ma, Pa.. do you really have to go?”. And that’s when I start to render my version of the song, “ Kisses for me, save all your kisses for me.. Bye bye baby bye bye.. don’t cry honey don’t cry…”. Call me old fashioned. Then at the end of the day when we come back, he’s all smiles.

Four months on

Time sure flies. Today Baby Ali turns four months old. There are some significant changes I can see in Baby Ali, in behavioral patterns as well as physically :
1) Growth
From a baby born of just over 2kgs, Baby Ali is now twice his original weight. He is now feeding 3-4 ounces of milk every 3-4 hours during the day. This is coupled with spoon feeding of 2-3 scoops of baby cereal twice daily which we had started to give him only since early this week. I can also see that he is taller now although I’m not sure by how much because I do not have a record of how tall he was during birth.
2) Sleeping and feeding habits
Up to about a week ago, Baby Ali used to wake up every hour at night to feed. The amount of feeding during those times fluctuates, where at times Baby Ali can take up to 3 ounces and other times he may only take just a few seconds worth(of milk) before falling asleep again. Now the pattern has improved somewhat where Baby Ali wakes up only 2-3 times nightly. And since he sleeps at around 10pm and wakes up at about 7am, feeding is done at about 3 hour intervals.
I must admit that all in all, these four months has been a tiring but great eye opening experience. I wonder what Baby Ali has in store for us next?

Boy do I have a lot of catching up to do! My apologies for the lack of updates on this blog. A lot has happened these past few weeks and to top it off, I’ve been quite sick these couple of days. But as the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining, the good news is that I have finally managed to setup internet access from our home so hopefully I’ll get the chance to post Baby Ali’s photos more promptly. I’m posting several photos today and will do the same the subsequent days until the pictures cover all the days I did not post. I thank you for bearing with me. God bless and have a wonderful day.

Thank God For Family

In our home there’s my mother in law, Baby Ali’s Uncle Iwan, my wife and me. We take turns taking care of Baby Ali and boy can he be a handful sometimes. And the current heatwave is not making things any easier for us especially during the day when it’s the hottest. Everyone’s sweating while Baby Ali’s screaming. Takes us a while to calm him down. I’m thankful that my mother in law and Iwan are lending us a hand to take care of Baby Ali. God knows we sure need them around.
